It’s Kind of a Funny Story
Since Paul Feig first announced he was going to reboot Ghostbusters with an all female leading cast critics, such as myself, have sparred with him over his movie. While some critics have resorted to sexist remarks I have maintained that Paul Feig should have either done the job he was originally asked, which was to direct Ghostbusters 3, or to step aside and let someone else, someone more capable, direct the sequel fans had waited oh-so-long for, the sequel which was ready to start production and just needed a director.
I have also aimed my critique at Amy Pascal, who despite having worked with Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman on the aforementioned sequel sought out Paul Feig to reboot the franchise as yet another Melissa McCarthy vehicle movie hiding under the transparent veil of faux-feminism. One name that has so far escaped criticism is screenwriter Katie Dippold, who co-wrote the Ghostbusters reboot with director Feig.
At that time, there was literally no movie written, you know? Leslie has such strong energy and we wanted someone to be that powerful in that role.

It’s finally here. After the better part of a year discussing every morsel of news in great detail, Paul Feig’s rejuvenation of the Ghostbusters franchise is now in theaters around the world. I’m no critic, I’m a lover of film. And obviously as this is a Ghostbusters fansite, posting a review would have an incredible bias against it. But if you’re looking for my thoughts and in-depth analysis, stay tuned to future episodes of our podcast the Interdimensional Crossrip, where we’ll be discussing at great length.
But being that this is the first live-action Ghostbusters film hitting theaters since , I can’t help myself.

Thirty years after the debut of the beloved franchise, Ghostbusters is back on the big screen, with new ghostbusters, new tech, a new villain and new ghosts, all while providing nods to the original. Collider: How daunting is it to stare at a blank page and tackle a year film legacy? I was terrified, at first, but at the same time, it spoke to everything I love. There were a billion reasons I was so excited to do this, but I knew the bar was going to be very high and I knew there could very possibly be painful times ahead.
What were you most excited about, when it came to writing a Ghostbusters movie, and what were you most nervous about pulling off? I wanted to work on new places in New York, just to get that feeling again, especially with these new actors. That was most exciting to me. Also, the character stuff was really fun, to think about new ways in and new dynamics. The hardest part was the villain plot line, just because the first two movies are so in our heads.
The first thing we talked about was the way in.
Let’s make this birthday one to remember.
Katie Dippold is an American popular actress, screenwriter and comedian. The beautiful lady gets the worldwide recognition for her wonderful screenwriting. She draws the attention of audience within very short time by her terrific acting capacity. She received a graduation degree in Journalism from Rutgers University. Katie was so much passionate about media arena from early childhood and associated with different types of cultural activities. Now, she is a familiar name in the showbiz industry of the United States.
Katie Dippold always knew that signing up to write the new up an online dating profile (her parents are now amicably divorced): “ and it was.
You’re the reason ‘Ghostbusters’ is about gender. It’s a similar feeling of excitement that got Dippold into Ghostbusters as a child. She loved the original movie, and not just because it tickled the funnybone of a future comedian. There’s a certain segment claiming that the movie’s use of four female leads — and one dopey male co-star — means there’s no one in this new generation of Ghostbusters for young boys to look up to.
And yet Dippold never had any problem latching on when the reverse was true. This movie isn’t really for kids — same as the original Ghostbusters — but it’s PG rather than R for a reason. There was a lot of crazy stuff that happened. Bear in mind, the original movie came out at a different time. The reboot started out with an older audience in mind. It hewed closer to horror, and an R-rating. That kind of movie might have delighted some of the longtime fans, but it would have been too limiting.
It would have gotten away from the spirit of the series.
‘Ghostbusters’ Co-Writer Katie Dippold on Why They Made a Reboot instead of a Sequel
When we first got to college, I was a pale, malnourished kid whose glasses took up two-thirds of his face and who only wore white sneakers. Katie was an insanely pale, cute, disconcertingly quiet blonde girl who used to trudge in and out of the common area, where nine meatheads would hit on her. She would humor them before mumbling something weird and shuffling back to her room. She memorized a sequence in which she could quickly place her proximity mines that made it impossible for me to move my character throughout the space without dying instantly.
If you ever ask her, Katie will tell you that in our last Bond match, played on the day we moved out of our freshman dorm, she won and retired as Goldeneye champion.
The Real Reason ‘Dating Naked’ Was Canceled Commentators: Paul Feig (director/co-writer), Katie Dippold (co-writer) requested to be introduced on the commentary as “the amazing Katie Dippold,” and Feig complies.
News Preview: May May 1st, April is over and thank god for that. The Fate of the Furious is currently the only film that was better than a midlevel hit, while Going in Style might end up being the second-biggest release of the month. Fortunately, May looks a lot brighter. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. Ghostbusters felt like a mistake from the very beginning. It is a remake of one the great comedies of all time.

While I commend Katie Dippold for defending the movie she a role she has played in all of Feig’s movies to date – the lewd, crude, fat woman.
Excitement for the project was so pitched that 10 days after the acquisition, Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy jumped on to star, and Bridesmaids director Paul Feig signed on to direct. The Heat was on the fast track to becoming one of the buzziest properties in town, and by the time it opens in theaters nationwide on June 28, its gestation period from beginning to end will have been just 20 months—a supernova by Hollywood standards.
I finally made it just as the deal closed, and my car was a pool of sweat. There is a dryness to the way Dippold tells a story—straightforward, without affect, as though utterly unaware of just how crazy-funny it is—that makes it hard to believe that she is one of the hottest on-the-rise comedy writers in Hollywood. More goofball than wiseacre, she doesn’t curse much or gesticulate, doesn’t crack jokes, do imitations, or tweet witty quips the equivalent of a mike and stool for comedians these days.
As we brunch on scrambled eggs and Arnold Palmers—half iced tea, half lemonade—she regales me with a kooky story about wanting to impress her bosses on the first day of a college internship with Late Night With Conan O’Brien. I thought I had to take it up a notch. And they were like, ‘OK, run downtown and take this ferry, and then this plane and get on this train, and, like, grab onto the wings of this bird.
Her humor , Feig tells me, is “smart, funny, irreverent, but grounded—and that’s all I ever look for. After further prodding, she relents and admits she came up with the idea for “Indianapolis,” which finds unapologetic carnivore Ron Swanson Nick Offerman devastated to learn that his favorite steak house has closed.
In another episode, in which Leslie Knope Amy Poehler goes on a blind date with a crazy MRI technician her then husband Will Arnett , Dippold owns up to writing a killer line that has Knope confessing that her ideal mate has “the brains of George Clooney and the body of Joe Biden. To be clear, Dippold wasn’t thinking about all that when she set out to write it.
